Manipal hospital launches heart day international painting competition
THEME: How To Keep Your Heart Happy And Healthy
September 26th 2022: In honor of World Heart Day, Manipal hospital is launching an international digital painting competition. The aim of this competition is to increase awareness of the dangers of heart disease in the younger generation. This competition will create a platform for kids to freely express their creativity through art while simultaneously earning a little extra cash.
The idea for world heart day was initially conceived between 1997-1999 when the World Health Federation(WHF) in collaboration with WHO announced it. In a bid to reduce the global mortality rate from non-communicable diseases(NCD) by 25% before 2025, world leaders committed to this cause. World Heart Day has been celebrated every other year on the 29th of September since 2000.
The main aim of World Heart Day is to educate people on risk factors that may have long-term effects and in turn lead to cardiovascular diseases which are accountable for nearly half if not all NCD deaths making it the world’s number one killer. Heart disease and stroke are the world’s leading causes of death, claiming 18.6 million lives each year. More than 90 countries participate in this celebration yearly carrying out different activities like concerts, walks, runs, fundraising, free health checks, and sporting events.
Children between the ages of 5 to 15 are eligible to participate in this competition and can send in their artwork before or on the 26th of September 2022 and stand a chance to win handsome cash prizes.
