Zambian Football player Rachael Kundananji  has become the most expensive women's football player in history.

The 23-year-old attacker, who scored 33 goals in 43 Liga F games for Madrid has signed a four-year contract with the American club with the option for an additional year. Bay FC will make their National Women's Soccer League debut this season.

The transfer cost of Kundananji smashes the previous record set by England player Keira Walsh who moved from Manchester City to Barcelona for £400,000 in 2022.

Several high-profile signings have occurred during the transfer window, notably the transfers of Oshoala and Beattie to Bay FC.

The historic transfer of Kundananji will undoubtedly inspire young girls and women all around the world to pursue their aspirations in football, given her remarkable track record and promising future.

The purchase also exceeds the reported £384,000 Chelsea paid for Colombian attacker Mayra Ramirez from Levante with the potential add-ons raising the amount to £426,600.

Bay FC will pay an initial $785,000 for Kundananji with an additional $75,000 in add-on fees.

The team has already signed Nigeria attacker Asisat Oshoala and former Arsenal defender Jen Beattie, making them a force to be reckoned with in the women's football league.
