Winners and losers, whatever the case, celebration is an act of choice. We've all marvelled at the special AFCON hosted Côte d'ivoire and how brave the team was through out the competition.

The football squad called Africa's number one for winning the AFCON 2023 celebrated its triumph with a special welcome from the president of Ivory Coast Alassane Ouattara as he welcomed players, coaches and officials at the Presidential Palace.

Ouattara presented medals to the triumphant Elephants, who will be African champions in 2023, and monetary gifts to each member of the squad.

Team officials were promoted to Commander in the country's National Order of Merit, while coaches and players were named Chevalier and officers.

The president expresses his thanks and, more importantly, his confidence in this team who demonstrated bravery and resilience throughout the African Cup of Nations.

The advancement of the hosts to the final appeared doubtful in the early rounds of the competition, but they battled back to overcome Nigeria 2-1 in the final on Sunday, sealing them the winning title of AFCON2023.
