RECIPE | African Doughnuts
Ingredients
* 3 cups of white flour
* 1 cup granulated sugar
* 0.1 ounce yeast
* 1 cup (8 fl oz) of water
* 2 cups of canola oil (for frying)
* 1 tsp salt
Method
Place the water, sugar and salt in a bowl. Add the yeast and mix well.
Leave to stand for about 3 minutes until the yeast is activated. Slowly add flour and mix thoroughly. Leave to rise beside a warm stove for about 30 minutes.
Heat the oil in a deep pot.
Using clean hands or a table spoon, make balls of the dough and place in the hot oil.
Fry at medium heat until golden brown. Remove and place onto a paper towel .Pat dry to remove the excess oil. Serve warm.
