Bamboutos FC, Wins Champion's Trophy Of 2022 Super League
Bamboutos FC of Mbouda wins its first trophy of the 2022-2023 season. Bamboutos FC of Mbouda has held off Coton Sport of Garoua in a stadium stormed by its supporters, going the distance against a serious opponent.
The Mangwa Boys won the trophy thanks to a goal scored in the second minute of play. The goal was scored by Eugène Ejenguele. This victory gives the club confidence after a slow start to the season.
The Coach of Coton Sport attempted to justify the defeat by claiming that Bamboutos FC was huddled in his defence and did not leave any open space. In the post-match press conference, coach Gabriel Haman stated, "We were not tired, it is true when you get a goal in the second or third minute. It is difficult to play against a grouped team, but we tried and it just didn't work."
The game was viewed as a stepping stone toward vengeance for the popular Mbouda club after they were defeated 1-0 by Coton Sport of Garoua in the finals of the Cup Cameroon, missing yet another golden opportunity to win the highly coveted title.
This is one of the high points in the long history of the club, which has existed for a long time but has never won a trophy.
The 2022 Super League trophy is the second for a club that has been in existence since 1966, following the 2004 UNIFAC Cup. The victory was long overdue, which is why the fans are still buzzing.
