Afrobeats is actually becoming a global phenomenon, as seen by its popularity at the convergence of music and fashion.

Here are five occasions when Nigerian musicians walked foreign runways:

  1. Wizkid for D&G

Wizkid walked the Dolce & Gabbana runway during Milan Fashion Week in 2018. He walked solo as well as with Naomi Campbell, possibly the most famous model of all time. It was an exciting period, and many people lauded him as a record-breaker. Despite the fact that D'banj walked the runway during the African Fashion International Johannesburg Fashion Week in 2018.

2. Seun Kuti for Casablanca

Seun Kuti, the child of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti walked the fall/winter runway for modern clothing line Casablanca during Paris Fashion Week. He probably had one of the classiest walks we've ever seen.

3. Davido for Puma

Davido walked the runway for Puma in New York during New York Fashion Week in 2022, wearing a customised tracksuit. His clothing sparked numerous internet discussions.

4. Odunsi the Engine for Mowalola

Few people are aware that Odunsi the Engine, an alt musician is the sister of Mowalola Ogunlesi, one of the fastest-rising talents in the British design market. Odunsi modelled red leather trousers and a jacket for the Spring Ready-to-Wear collection of Mowalola in Paris earlier this year.

5. Izzlax for Chmps Parrise

This Afrobeats performer attended Paris Fashion Week earlier this year and wore a two-piece for the urban label Chmps Paris.
