47 Snakes And Two Lizards Seized At Indian Airport
Custom officials at Tiruchirappalli International Airport in India have intercepted 47 pythons and two lizards from a passenger.

The passenger was returning from Malaysia to India, when airport authorities noticed unusual movements in the passenger’s bags, as he alighted. Upon inspection, they discovered 47 live snakes of various species and sizes, as well as lizards.
According to reports from the United Nations Environment Program( UNEP), India has appeared to be a renowned hub for wildlife trafficking. In April, an Indian woman was equally caught at the airport In possession of 22 snakes. India is among the top ten countries that use air transport for wildlife trafficking.
The passenger is currently in detention and undergoing questioning; while the seized reptiles are set for repatriation to Malaysia.
