Zambian Footballer Barbra Banda Scores Twice As Orlando Pride Wins Their Eighth Consecutive Game
Barbra Banda scored twice as the Orlando Pride defeated the Portland Thorns 2-1 at Inter&Co Stadium on Friday night, extending their winning streak to eight games.
Banda currently has eight goals in six National Women's Soccer League starts and the Pride (8-0-3) became the first club of the league to win eight consecutive games.
In the 30th minute, Banda headed in a rebound from a corner kick. She scored her second goal in transition in the 40th minute, moving past her defender and goalkeeper Shelby Hogan before firing into an open net.
Izzy D'Aquila, scoring her first NWSL goal equalised for Portland in the 71st minute, collecting a cutback pass from Olivia Moultrie and finished close range.
Moultrie became the youngest player in league history to collect ten assists across all competitions.
With a header going over the crossbar in an attempt for an equaliser, Portland (6-4-1) lost ground to the Pride.
