Venus Williams Returned To Tennis And Got Engaged

Venus Williams made a spectacular return to the professional tennis circuit, accompanied by an unexpected announcement: she is now engaged.

Williams thanked her fiancé Andrea Preti, an Italian Model and Actor who was in the audience at the DC Open and was born in Denmark, when she became the second-oldest woman to win a tour-level singles match.

The seven-time Grand Slam winner became the oldest player to win a tour-level singles match since 47-year-old Martina Navratilova beat Catalina Castano at Wimbledon in 2004.

Williams, who is 45 years old had not played in a competition for 16 months prior to the Washington tournament.

Williams won a doubles match on Monday and a singles match on Tuesday, but lost a doubles match on Wednesday.

She will play Magdalena Frech in the second round on Thursday night after winning seven Grand Slam singles titles.
