Super Falcons Are Out Of The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

The Nigeria women’s national football team have bowed out of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The Super Falcons were eliminated by England in the round of 16. The match played on Monday, August 7, ended 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw.

Despite the effort against a reduced England team following the expulsion of forward, Lauren James, the Nigerian side failed to make it to the quarter-finals.

Nigeria are the most successful team in Africa, and were participating in their ninth Women’s World Cup. They finished second in group B with 5 points.

The Nigeria women’s team have qualified for all editions of the World tournament, but have not made it past the round of 16 in over two decades. They qualified for the quarter-finals in 1999.
