Ola Aina was named man-of-the-match and scored his first goal for Nottingham Forest today as they defeated Aston Villa 2-0 at the City Ground in the English Premier League.

Super Eagles Defender Ola Aina scored early on and Orel Mangala added the second goal to help Forest snap a six-match winless streak dating back to September.

In the fifth minute, Aina, who started at right back fired home from outside the box after a cutback by Harry Toffolo.

The Nigerian player kept up his impressive play after scoring, organising the defence of Forest on the right side and opening up a gap for their counterattacks.

Mangala increased the lead early in the second half with a blistering shot that Villa Keeper Emiliano Martinez attempted to save with one hand, but the Argentine could not prevent the ball from bouncing inside the line as he failed to keep it out.

With the victory, Nottingham Forest ended their six-match winning streak and denied their local rivals a place in the top four.

Unai Emery's Villa would have surpassed his former club Arsenal to fourth place, but they remain in fifth place, five points behind leaders Manchester City.

Forest climbed to 12th in the table after recording their first clean sheet at home this season.

Taiwo Awoniyi, Aina's Super Eagles teammate also started for Forest and led the line impressively before being replaced by Danilo in the 82nd minute.
