LeBron James Will Become The First NBA Player To Play His 23rd Season

American Basketball Star LeBron James will be the first NBA player in the league's history to play for a 23rd season when he takes the floor in October.

He is activating the $52.6 million dollar option in his contract to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers until the end of the season in April 2026. It is the highest deal of the 40-year-old's illustrious career, surpassing his $48.7 million compensation from previous year.

James joined the Lakers in 2018 and won the NBA Championship that same year.

The Basketball Legend became the first NBA player to play with his son during the 22nd season when the Lakers signed Bronny James. He will turn 41 in December.

In 21 of his 22 seasons in the league, James has been named All-NBA, including a second-round selection this season. There is no other player with more than 15 All-NBA selections.

Robert Parish has the record of 1,611 regular-season games, which is 49 games more than the NBA's all-time scoring leader, who has played in 1562 games.

James should be able to break that record this season if he stays healthy.
