Le Court Secures Historic Africa Win In Women's Tour De France
Mauritian Cyclist Kim Le Court made history by becoming the first African to win a stage in the Women’s Tour de France.
It was a double celebration for the 29-year-old, who won the sprint on Wednesday’s fifth stage to reclaim the yellow leader’s jersey.
Le Court narrowly beat Dutch riders Demi Vollering and Anna van der Breggen at the finish line after a grueling 166km route from Chasseneuil-du-Poitou Futuroscope to Guéret the longest stage of this year’s Tour.

Overnight leader Marianne Vos lost the yellow jersey after finishing ninth on the day, 33 seconds behind Le Court. As a result, the AG Insurance Soudal team leader moved back to the top of the general classification.
Le Court, who previously led the standings after stage two, now holds an 18-second lead over France’s Pauline Ferrand-Prévot.

The Mauritian rider is aiming to win the overall classification in a stage race for the first time at the 2025 Tour de France Femmes.
This year’s Tour covers a record-breaking 1,165 kilometres with a total elevation gain of 17.2 kilometres over nine stages, before an overall winner is crowned on Sunday.
