From February 22 to 26, 2025, the city of Marrakech, Morocco, hosted the 49th General Assembly of the Federation of African National Insurance Companies (FANAF). This prestigious event brought together key players in the African insurance industry to discuss new trends, challenges, and opportunities. Among the attendees was Brian Nkwenti, CEO of Prudential Beneficial Insurance Cameroon, who actively participated in the discussions.

At the General Assembly in Marrakech, Brian Nkwenti joined other industry leaders in sharing insights and discussing ways to tackle the current challenges facing the African insurance market. During the assembly, several key recommendations were made to strengthen the African insurance sector. These included encouraging member companies to boost financial education and promote a stronger insurance culture across the continent. There was also a recommendation to expand the scope of compulsory insurance to ensure broader coverage.

Another important suggestion was the establishment of a regulatory framework to support the growth and development of the African insurance industry. Member companies were encouraged to introduce insurance solutions that address emerging risks, including natural catastrophes, which are increasingly impacting many regions.

The assembly also highlighted the need to implement actions aimed at achieving gender equality, with a particular focus on developing products and services tailored to the professional female clientele. Additionally, it was recommended that a permanent exchange system be set up between insurance companies and brokers in each market to foster collaboration and improve service delivery.

Finally, it was decided that the 50th Annual General Assembly would be held in Ivory Coast, marking a significant milestone for the organization.

The 49th FANAF General Assembly was a testament to the strong progress being made in the African insurance market.
