Actress and Producer Charlize Theron hosted her fourth annual Block Party on Saturday night in Los Angeles, raising over $1 million for her charity, the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP).

The event held at the Universal Backlot, featured performances by country artists Tanner Adell and Lainey Wilson and celebrated the upcoming release of the summer blockbuster ''Twisters.''

CTAOP was founded by Theron nearly two decades ago and focuses on improving the health and safety of young people in Southern Africa. The organization supports community-based initiatives by providing funding, building communities and amplifying local voices to address health and gender inequality.

Several noteworthy personalities attended the Block Party, including television personality Jeannie Mai and South African campaigners Neo Mohajane and Miché Williams, as well as the performers.

Theron emphasised the need of supporting current community programmes in her address, as well as acknowledging the unpredictability of birthplace luck.

Theron also extended gratitude to the long-term investors who have helped CTAOP throughout the years. She described the occasion as a full cycle of celebration and support for the communities that enable their work.

The Block Party demonstrated how to effectively use celebrity and resources to impact positive change in one's home nation.
